My mother is the kind of woman that never does anything half-assed. She knows more about life and relationships than anyone I've met and she isn't afraid to laugh at herself. Regularly.

She loves with ferocity and gives all of her heart. When I was 5 she moved the kitchen table and let me roller skate on the linoleum floor. When I was 13 she sat up at 3 in the morning and held me while I cried. When I was 17 she bought me seven cans of paint and some brushes and let me paint crazy designs all over my bedroom walls.

My mother has touched so many lives. Hundreds of people love her. She has many friends-some of which she met one day at the post office or on jury duty. She brings joy to our lives and reminds us that love is the greatest gift of all.

Happy Birthday Mom. I love you.

It's My Birthday Weekend

I'm not even going to lie-

birthdays were a huge deal growing up. Mom adorned the house with streamers and the "birthday banner" while I slept. The "birthday candle" was always burning on the counter when I went down for breakfast. On my sister's 21st she came home to find 21 boxes hidden around the house- all with 21 things inside (i.e. $21 giftcards, ) You get the drift. Well, I'm carrying on the tradition.

So far so good.
I got out of my meeting an hour early, no awkward drivers at the 5-way stop by our house, and freshly-baked cookies when I got home!
3 for 3!

Haphazard Post Including Images From My Weekend

My grandmother's pin from the 1920's

The deer here aren't afraid of anything. Even me. I found this one chowing down on shrubs in the backyard. She looked up at me for a second aiming my camera at her, then went right back to eating.

Is there any better place than the library?

No. There is not.
Happy Monday

My mother was once asked (at the Alameda swap meet)
"Is that a tooth?"
"No." She replied. "It is an imperfect pearl."
Inherited from my great-aunt Rene.

So this afternoon the three of us (the 'tooth', my mother and I) set off for Fremont.
Destination: Dusty Strings.
In search of sheet music for my mother's new harp.

I shan't be pulling the levers there but I shall be a very good back-seat driver.
