What could be worse than the stomach flu?
Costco on a Sunday. This picture doesn't really do it justice. There was just a huge mob of people crowded by the registers. Why is it every time we visit Costco on the weekends it feels like the end of the world? Everyone is like a rude, pushy zombie trying to get to their 6 lb. box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch before you do. Yuck.
In other news, my cake pop spree has ended.
I got the stomach flu Tuesday night. Still in recovery. Even tiny sips of water wouldn't stay down. This has been the first time I could look at the monitor without getting queasy.
Why am I telling you this? I wanted to share this remedy in case any of you are in the same boat in the near future.
Rice Water:
Cook the rice in twice the amount of water recommended. When rice becomes tender, let it sit off the heat with the lid on for a couple of minutes. Strain the water into a glass. You can add a little bit of sugar to make it taste better.
I was all over this recipe bc it reminded me of Horchata (my faaaavorite drink when my stomach is healthy!)
Check out our huge bag of rice!

It's from Costco ;)
Peace out everybody-and wash your hands frequently! haha

Postcards from GoogleEarth

Clement Valla
saved and cropped these images from Google Earth when he noticed that given the right angle, roads appeared to be 'melting' into the ground below them.
Valla says, "I am collecting these new typologies as a means of conservation--as Google Earth improves its 3D models, its terrain, and its satellite imagery, these strange, surrealist depictions of our built environment and its relation to the natural landscape will disappear in favor of better illusionistic imagery. However, I think these strange mappings of the 2-dimensional and the 3-dimensional provide us with fabulous forms that are purely the result of algorithmic processes and not of human aesthetic decision making. They are artifacts worth preserving."

Just one more reason my husband is 'the bomb'
Last night...

after his performance at Town Hall...

he made a pit stop to grab a few supplies...
(in his tuxedo :)

then he did this

while I did this

what is the answer to life?

I promise I'm not on drugs

weeee

-10 lbs so far on Weight Watchers! yippee!

This reminds me of my friend Kathi (pronounced Catty) in Germany.
When we would take pictures she'd say,
"Show me your Crest smile!"
for you Kathi~küssen!

then I fell asleep

while Erik was still working on this...

then he woke me up and said,
"Cross your fingers!"
I opened my eyes for the moment of truth. He had taken our PS3 completely apart (after recieving the dreaded "red light of death") and with a screwdriver, heat gun, and some sort of thermal compound put it all back together.
He plugged it in...

and it worked!
That means Netflix, gaming, blu-ray player, and streaming video chat with our friends around the US will resume!!! I'm so impressed. Seriously. Erik. Seriously.
You rock.

Me head has been 'up in the clouds' lately...

Quite literally a few times this month actually. I seem to have caught some kind of photo-editing bug, and now I can't really think about anything else! The other day I went out on a walk with my camera, and came back with about 30 "concept" images that I want to flesh-out in the next couple of weeks.
Its fabulous in the respect that I feel that obsessiveness again for photography.
Its maddening that I am a total newbie at "photoshop" (I'm using GIMP)and it takes me 3 hours to make a photo that in the end turns out to be total crap.
So please forgive the super-cheesy photos I'm spitting out for now :) E-mail me if you have any suggestions or ideas. I'd love to do a photo mashup with someone else's photo sometime!
Also, you may have noticed the self-portrait page on my site...I'd love to do yours! Just send me a pic of yourself and we'll see what happens!
Cheers mates!
