this is the canvas thats been hanging in our living room since we got married. i actually bought it a few years prior when i was in college. a coffee shop in denver was showcasing art done by mentally-challenged students.
i bought this painting called "my home" by jon. jon was down-syndrome.
over the years i got a little restless with the painting and started adding my own flare to it.
i always felt a little sacrilegious about changing jon's work, but sorry. i was a creative 20-something college kid, i just had to get my collage on.
collage happens.
collage in college.
i really do love you. all 3 of you.
weeeee
woo woo the hell glued all of this weird stuff on this canvas?
anyway, in one of my bouts of "i need to grow up. i'm not a weird 16 yr old that shops at gadzooks anymore" i decided to get rid of jon's painting.
but instead of throwing it out, i thought i'd spruce it up myself.
ben franklin had these card stock squares on sale for 99 cents for 300!
origionally, i wanted to glue them on the canvas in a perfect grid. but because 'precise' isn't reall yin my vocabulary i ended up having a lot of gaps.
then i thought i would tape them down and then cover the tape with ribbon
but once i applied the masking tape i kind of liked the look of it! the canvas is in a spot that doens't get a ton of light, and the masking tape looks really pretty and gauzy.
i do still want to finish it off one day but for now i kind of like it as is!
cheap and easy
